A love of the world around us is what inspired us to launch a range of sustainable, eco friendly jewellery that has a minimal impact on the environment.
We’ve seen the damage to land, ecosystems and local biodiversity wrought by traditional diamond, metal and gemstone mining. Wide scale devastation and toxic pollution, contributing to an ever growing climate crisis.
This passion sparked in us a drive to do better. By building a brand that puts planet before profit.
We use 100% recycled metals and lab-grown diamonds and gemstones, a kinder alternative to the harsh processes of traditional mining.
But it’s not just the products themselves we’re concerned with.
We can’t claim to be a company that prioritises sustainability without considering how our operations impact the planet. As with any product or service, the processes surrounding our beautiful jewellery come at a carbon cost.
Which is why we offset the carbon associated with shipping every order in a bid to limit our environmental impact.
Each year, humans produce over 50 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The biggest culprit is energy and transportation, followed by agriculture, forestry and land use. Experts say we need to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Whether humanity is up to this extreme challenge over the next three decades is yet to be seen, but we’re already seeing the deadly impact of climate change at work, from forest fires to flooding.
Carbon offsetting involves investing in projects that remove carbon, to the equivalent amount your activity emits. Projects such as tree planting or building clean energy generators to displace fossil fuels. Each tonne of carbon to be offset equals one credit, to be purchased in support of offsetting projects.
Demand for carbon offsetting has soared in recent years. In 2008, 0.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions were offset, compared to 42.8 million tonnes in 2018. Companies are becoming increasingly aware of their part in tackling the climate crisis. Offsetting is the first step towards reaching our carbon goals.
For each order we receive, we use funds to support carbon offsetting projects around the world. We work this out using a carbon offsetting calculator, which takes into account the shipping we use, converting the subsequent emissions generated into credits used to support the projects.
Each project is Verified Carbon Standard certified and follows strict requirements to ensure they do what they say they’re doing.
These projects don’t just serve to offset carbon emissions, they also provide benefits such as employment, security and enhanced biodiversity in the areas where they run, mainly in developing countries.
